Yes. I said it.

The Yogurt Monster
When Rascal smells yogurt, it's like an entirely different cat takes over his body. His eyes grow in size, his face twitches with excitement. Nothing, and I mean nothing will stand between this feline and his sweet yogurty prize. He will fight anything and anyone who stands between him and that Activia cup.
I wish I could say the day we realized that Rascal had a yogurt problem. All we know is that our cat is able to stand like a human (or a tiny dinosaur, depending who you ask) for minutes on end, keeping his balance perfectly.

Is there something your pets do that make you laugh hysterically? Maybe Rascal isn't the only one out there with a yogurt addiction........

Happy Tuesday everyone! Hope you are staying warm and safe on this cold, freezing rain inspired evening!

I was inspired by Bogey's Facts to write some interesting little tid bits about one of our animals. Naturally, I went with the craziest animal in my house..... Rascal.
1. Rascal genuinely understands what people are saying when they speak to him. The tone of his responses are always appropriate to the question he was asked.
2. Not only is he fully aware of his size, but he uses it to his advantage to take over half of the bed every single night.
3. In protest (for a reason we're still not clear on), he knocks down his bowl of food every morning, then knocks down Zoe's. He makes sure we are home when he does this. It's all about getting the desired reaction....
4. He has an ongoing 'dispute' with the cat down the hall (who we like to refer to as Newman). They're both orange. Maybe our hallway is only big enough for one orange cat...
5. He drinks out of the toilet and loves to play in the shower.
6. His recall is better than Bailey's. Rascal can be summoned to any room in the house by simply saying his name.
7. Rascal has the dreamiest face I've ever seen on an animal. He can woo any person at any given moment.
8. He can stand completely straight up for at least a minute with no problems (as long as there's yogurt to entice him).
9. I'm not too positive on this one, but I'm pretty sure when I yell at him, he swears back at me.
10. Every morning when I have my shower, he sits on the toilet and stands guard.
11. Deep down, he loves to cuddle with Zoe and Bailey. He's such a big softy!
Sorry for the lack of blogging! I've been fighting a cold the last few days, and sadly have NO stories to tell.
Me and the furry babies spent the last 48 hours sleeping and of course, were VERY boring! We are awake now (some of us at work, others at home in a crate) so hopefully we will have something to write about soon.
So I don't know about all of you, but I am not enjoying this winter weather. There's a storm watch on right now for our area, which means that Bailey will do everything in her might to avoid going outside. Poor little thing, she even pees at lightning speed to minimize her time out there (then again, I would too!).
I'm very fortunate to have a family cottage to use during the warmer months. As we brought Bailey home in August, she didn't get to really see what having a cottage is like. I'm hopeful that she will consider trying swimming this summer!
When the winter months show up, I find myself craving the cottage more than ever. There's something about floating on a lake, sangria in hand that makes the world seem absolutely perfect. And to top if all off, this summer I get to really experience my favorite place in the world with my pooch!
Here are a few pictures of my cottage, which is really a piece of paradise. If you're feeling the winter blues, take a look at these pictures. Close your eyes. Can you imagine it? You're on the dock. The sun is beaming down. Do you feel that in your hand? It's a cold beer. Enjoy it! Your worries are far away. . . . .
The view of our lake. This picture was taken after a day of floating around (as you can see by all the flotation devices all over the dock)

Sophie on her quest. Get that stick!
My family doing yoga at our cousins' weekend. How cool are we??!!?!?
I hope you're are staying dry and warm today :)

How long till summer again?
Caught Bailey trying to do yoga the other day. Running is SUPER important to this pooch, so naturally she makes sure to do some stretching after a long game of fetch :)

Here is what the 'Camel Pose' looks like.
And here's Bailey's version
You'd think I'd at least have a picture of her doing downward dog!

Happy Monday everyone!

I hate Mondays....
Bailey is in her crate today. When we first brought her home, she was so well behaved. Because of this, we decided to lock her up in a room instead of using a crate. This method had been working really well until a few weeks ago, when little miss likes to chew started to munch on whatever she could find. And so, today is her first day in a crate.
Out of curiousity, do you crate train your dog? How do they like the crate? Do they have a designated 'space' during the day? What was your dog's first experience like in the crate?
On a happier note, I took some funny pictures last night of my pets with this tartan hat Bailey got for Christmas (it is a part of a tartan ensemble). Before you roll your eyes at the word 'tartan', I should tell you that I'm a highland dancer and Scottish, so tartan of all kinds make several appearances in my house (and apparently on my pets).
So here's the outfit that Bailey got for Christmas from my Aunt and Uncle
And because I'm terribly mean, I decided to put the hat on my cats.
I could not stop laughing. I'm surprised these pictures didn't come out all blurry- my hands were shaking from laughter. I don't think Rascal or Zoe appreciated their time playing dress up. Oh well!

Have a great weekend!
Ahhh! Just found out about this. Looks like I've got two new posts for one day.

1. When did you begin your blog? I began my blog only a few months ago. The site was done and completed by Shine Branding in December.

2. What was your original purpose for starting a blog? My original purpose was to have an outlet to talk about my two cats and dog.

3. Is your current purpose the same? I would say it has changed a little bit. I have been having an amazing time getting to know the dog community. It's wild to think that there are so many other dog owners out there who love to blog! I think it's important to share tips and stories. I think mostly now I want to show people that you CAN live with pets in a condo. I also want people to know how important it is to properly socialize your pets (something that I will be covering as much as possible).

If so, how do you feel you’ve met your goals? Well, I've only been doing this for a short while so I haven't achieved any goals just yet. But there's still time!

4. Do you blog on a schedule or as the spirit moves you? whole life is scheduled down to the last second, so I have to blog on a schedule. I've been told by a friend to blog more often so she has something to read in the morning.

If the former, how often — and what techniques do you use to stick to it? I try and get it done first thing in the morning.

If the latter, do you worry about… well, whatever you might worry about (e.g. losing traffic, losing momentum)? I don't do this for that reason. It's just a little hobby that I do purely for me. If people read it, then that's great!

5. Are you generating income from your blog? Bahahaha no, and I like it that way.

If not currently, do you hope to in the future — and how? Nope. I already have two other hobbies that I am fortunate enough to gain an income from. One aspect of this blog is that I can operate it at my own pace and on my own schedule.

6. What do you like most about blogging in general and your blog in particular (bragging is good!)? I love being able to talk about my pets. I talk to people about them as if they are my children (for me, they ARE like my children). As a pet owner, you put a LOT of effort into taking care of a pet. Especially a dog. So naturally you want to talk about this figure in your life that you're dedicating a lot of time to. It's nice having an outlet where other people who have the same appreciation for pets are there to communicate with and share stories.

7. What do you like least? I would have to say that I don't enjoy how little people know about pet bloggers. I have to admit, I had no idea that there was an entire community out there. I wish there was more coverage!

8. How do you see your blog changing/growing in 2012? Hopefully my pets will live in a house- I would love nothing more. You have no idea how excited I am to watch my cats experience stairs for the first time!
